As I write this post, an AdvoCare distributor drives a dark and lonely road in Mississippi.  Jill Acosta has been a Legacy Team member for 10 or more years now.  She’s spent the last two days in an intense training that should have wrapped up by 3 PM when she expected to head for the Cash In Weekend in Monroe.  Getting out 3 hours late, she’s tempted to cancel the trip, but instead of giving in to despair, she packs her car and pulls out at 8 PM.  She’ll drive 2 ½ hours into the night, get a hotel, sleep 5-6 hours and get up early to finish the 5 hour drive and make the training.  Why?  Doesn’t this seem to you just a little unreasonable?  What makes this meeting so vital and important for her?  Why can she not simply make the next meeting?

As she heads out of town, she has me on the phone, describing her frustration.  I know the event can be a game changer for her, but I also know she’s tired, sensing a migraine coming on.  I know there are risks.  I would completely understand if she decided not to go.  I even suggest it.  She says to me “I’ve got to go ”  as her voice cracks and trails off.  I know she feels what we all feel when our dreams are unfulfilled and when life doesn’t seem headed in the right direction.   Jill begin to dream this dream years ago.  She built a business, but because of circumstances mostly out of her control, the dream faded to the background.   Though she never gave up on it, it was hidden deep in her heart.  Today, the dream is coming to life.  It burns in her heart as she drives to a place where she knows she’ll get the answer to “what if?”  I’m so very proud of her and of others like her who despite the obstacles and circumstances that beat against them would not be kept from the answers they so desperately seek.

For this meeting to even take place, it took the preparation and planning of other AdvoCare distributors.  This meeting was the brain child of  Tonja & Bengie Parr.  The Parrs along with their Georgia Leadership literally put Georgia on the map years ago and still set the pace for their state today.   They have worked tirelessly for months and managed every single detail to bring a meeting that would have the potential to change the trajectory of people’s lives.   In the course of all this planning and preparation Tonja has cried out to me about the pressure that opposes her.  That part of the world that hopes she doesn’t succeed.   Anytime you’re helping others, having success, there will be those that oppose us and some of those are people we love.  It’s all just a part of life.  It’s about developing your character and making you more than you ever imagined you could be.  This transformation has and is happening in the lives of Tonja and Bengie, in part because they have been willing to pay the price and pour themselves into others.  I am so immensly proud of them.  Have you ever noticed that often the “good stuff” in life comes with a certain amount of pain attached to it?   Why would Tonja and Bengie go to so much effort?  Why would they  create so much extra work and put so much pressure on themselves when their lives are so busy with life and family?  I know the late nights, the exhaustion, physically and mentally that you experience when you put together this type of event.   Why would they do it? 

I know why they do it.  I know their hearts.  It’s for the same reason Todd Cash left his family for two days to fly out to Georgia to train people many of whom he doesn’t even know.  Their hearts are burdened.   A deep and even painful understanding that unless someone deliver’s the message lives may not  be changed.  A sober, understanding that they have a responsibility and a calling to help people become more.  These “champions” as Charlie used to say,  look into the eyes of the hurting and the discouraged knowing full well that they have some of life’s answers and they must be shared.    They invest themselves in others,  a band of difference makers.  The AdvoCare opportunity is alive and well today, because of these and other unsung AdvoCare heros.

As I conclude this post, I’m calling out to Tonja to get a report on the meeting.  Her excitement outshines  her exhaustion as she reports standing room only and more importantly that lives were changed tonight in Monroe, Georgia!

When you face challenges and obstacles, you have to learn how to either overcome them or adapt to them.  Wisdom guides you to the best choice.  To adapt is not to surrender but to become unstoppable.  It is the difference between being a boulder or a river.  Many of us see virtue as being immovable.   Yet in times of crisis, it is our willingness to be adaptable that distinguishes us.   Conviction is a popular excuse for rigidity, but faith should actually make us more pliable, not less.

Why? As I look at my calendar this morning, my head nearly spins at the flurry of activity that “life” is filled with.  Family activities, business appointments, school events, sports practices, ball games, tournaments, dental appointments, hair appointments, community and church obligations…the list goes on.   Then my mind goes to each of you and I am aware that most of your calendars look similar to mine but then most of you have the addition of a full-time or part-time job that is not worked from your homes.    
My mind goes from our calendars to the 3rd Annual Cash In Weekend in Georgia that will be here in a little more than a week.   I look at next week’s meeting agenda and I think through the WHY for each of you.  Why would you take your Friday night and Saturday…part of your weekend…one of your precious commodities that most people focus on all week long and attend these events?
 
The goal of the Cash In weekend is to add value to you and your family.  Here are a few questions:
 
Where are you today … physically?
Where are you today … financially?
 Where are you today … in your career?
 Where are you today … with your family? 
 What do you want to be different?   
 Is what you’re doing now adding up or actually subtracting from all of the above?
 
THE CASH IN WEEKEND is for YOU to see solutions for those issues that nearly 100% of families in America are struggling with.
 
So, what do you do now? 
1.  Decide.  Will you be there or will you not?
2.  Commit.  Schedule your babysitter, book your hotel room, call your sponsor and tell them you’ll be there, etc.
3.  Invite.  The Friday night event is for GUESTS, too.  You want to be focusing every conversation on getting people with you in the room on Friday.  If you have team members or people interested in the business of  AdvoCare, Saturday is a training not to miss.
 
Why?  Todd and Donna Cash have built one of the most successful businesses in all of AdvoCare’s history.  They average over $1 million per year in income and consistently have the second largest paycheck in AdvoCare. 
 
So?  For me, that was the first thing I thought when I heard of their success when we were getting started,   “Lucky for Todd and Donna, huh?”   That was until I talked to Todd and Donna, met them and heard their story.  It’s not about them, it’s not about their income..it’s about YOU.  It’s about OTHERS.  Todd has spent years as a coach, first coaching high school football and now coaching his children’s teams.  One of his biggest passions is coaching in AdvoCare!
 
Bottom Line:  AdvoCare allows the everyday person to earn income and some a lot.  Todd has the ability to break down HOW TO DO IT YOURSELF into easy, clear steps that you can put into action and GROW.  The weekend is NOT about that fact that the Cash’s have “cashed in”…it’s about YOU CASHING IN on your better future.
 
We attended a training similar to this in Tulsa, OK just a few months after starting in AdvoCare.   We were nervous about spending the money to get there, we had a hard time leaving the kids for the weekend, etc. and  nearly talked ourselves out of it.   That was the first event that Bengie ever attended and we left that training, set goals, and put the information we learned into our daily routine and he was able to leave his 15 year career .  We saw what we were looking for and made a decision that AdvoCare is for us.

LOAD IT UP! 

You’ll be glad you did.  This is one of those steps in building momentum that we talked about on the last Legacy Team Training Call!

We’re just got to put a huge THANK YOU out to the all of those who participated in our last Conference Call!  The feedback has been incredible.  In fact, the call served it’s purpose which was to help  you and your team build MOMENTUM!  The people that were on the call and put into practice what they heard are already seeing their personal and their team momentum begin to grow.   By the way, the call totally sold out!  The lines filled up quickly and people where unable to get in! We would encourage you to dial in early.

When Mark and I began building our business nearly 15 years ago, a conference call wasn’t available.  I remember however, a year or two into our business that Charlie, our founder and mentor was hosting conference calls on Sunday night.  Well, this didn’t “fly” all that well with Mark and I.  On Sunday nights, we had a standing ritual.  After church, we would all head for Ken’s Pizza and have a great time of food and fellowship.  It was a great time with treasured friends and we didn’t want to miss it.

After much deliberation, here was what we decided.   Things in our “financial” life weren’t going all that well.  Maybe that’s not strong enough; we were facing bankruptcy.    We’d heard Charlie say hundreds of times “for things to change you have to change.”   We concluded that pizza after church was not going to get us to our financial goals.  We decided that we would commit to our own better future by listening in to the conference calls ourself and by having guests on the call as well.  So as soon as church was over, we headed home to do a little final work loading up the call and listening in.   We’ve listened to probably nearly 1,000 conference calls over the years and have conducted 100′s more.  Using conference calls week in and week out, over 15 years we have a thriving business that pays us a 6 figure income. 

So pizza after church was one of the many things in our life that we had to change.  Over the years, we begin to ask ourselves “does this get us closer to our dreams?”   It’s a great question.  Have you asked it?  Who would have thought that changing one small habit, then another could over time potentially change the direction of a person’s life?
